Loans Edmonton is a free loan connection service for people who live and work in Edmonton and the towns around it, from Mill Woods and Clareview to St. Albert, Sherwood Park and Leduc. It explains how payday and installment loans work under Alberta law, including the instalment rule that sets Alberta apart. We do not lend and we never bill you.
What this site is
This site is a plain language guide to the two loans Edmonton borrowers are most often offered online, with a single apply link to lenders licensed for Alberta. A payday loan runs from $100 to $1500, costs at most $14 per $100 borrowed, and in Alberta is repaid in instalments spread over at least 42 days and three paydays. An installment loan runs from $500 to $10000 over 3 to 60 months at 18% to 35% APR.
In Edmonton the choice usually comes down to how long the problem lasts. A battery that dies in a minus thirty parkade after a shift at the Royal Alexandra is a three payday problem. A furnace that quits in a 1970s Mill Woods bungalow, or the quiet quarter after a Refinery Row turnaround, takes months and points at the installment page.
How we earn money
A lender pays us a referral fee when a loan made through our apply link funds, and nothing else pays for the site. The fee comes out of the lender's marketing budget, so it adds nothing to your $14 per $100, your APR or any instalment. A declined application costs nobody anything, and neither does a loan you cancel inside Alberta's second day window.
Because we are paid only on funded loans, the pull on us is toward an application a lender will accept, not the largest amount on offer. The referral disclosure spells out the arrangement.

Who runs it
An independent Canadian publisher runs Loans Edmonton as one of a small number of local loan guides. The Loans Edmonton Editorial Team writes and checks the pages, and nobody on it lends, brokers loans or gives financial advice. Our sources are Part 12.1 of the Consumer Protection Act (Alberta), the Payday Loans Regulation (Alta Reg 157/2009), and the federal Criminal Interest Rate Regulations. There are no reviews, testimonials or star ratings on the site.
What we hold ourselves to
Every page is checked against this list before it goes up.
- Figures follow the law as it stands: $14 per $100 as the most a payday loan can cost, $1500 and 62 days as the Alberta limits, 42 days as the shortest term, and 35% as the federal ceiling on installment lending.
- Repayment is described the Alberta way: instalments on at least three paydays, or two if you are paid monthly, never a single debit.
- Approval rests on income and is never promised; a lender cannot say yes before it has read your deposits.
- Alberta protections are stated as the Act writes them: a licence for every lender location through Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction, online lenders included; cancellation until the end of the second day after you receive your copy of the agreement; no rollovers; no fees before the first instalment; prepayment at no charge; 2.5% a month simple interest as the most a default can cost; and an age of majority of 18.
- Edmonton is described as it is: block heaters and dead batteries from November to March, turnaround overtime that ends without warning, pay on hospital rotations and biweekly government cycles. A payday loan costs the same by law in Beverly as in Windermere.
- Every rule stated links to the statute, the regulation or the regulator so you can check us.

What we are not
We are not a lender, and we hold no payday loan business licence because we do not lend. No page here asks for banking details, identification or pay stubs; the application behind the apply button runs on a separate lending platform, and the lenders on it hold the Alberta licences. The Service Alberta payday loans page sets out what a licensed lender must do.
There is no office on Jasper Avenue or anywhere else. Everything happens on a phone or laptop, on the Capital Line, in a break room in Nisku or at a kitchen table in Castle Downs. The contact page explains how to reach us, how applying works walks through the four steps, and the FAQ covers the rest.
